ENVIRONMENTAL REMEDIATION OF MICOROSA’S EXTERNAL WASTE DISPOSAL AREA

Located on the South-West of the petrochemical complex, the area of Micorosa has been used for twenty years as a landfill of hazardous waste disposal due to the industrial production. The historical landfilling, consists of 1.5 Millions cube meters of discarded chemicals which seriously affected underground of the regional area. Brindisi Municipality and Syndial Spa, jointly, carried out design of remediation works, formally approved by Environmental Ministry (MATTM). Appointed by ENI Syndial Spa & GLF Spa, Cotecchia & Associates undertook the detailed design, including deep embedded diaphragm wall (up to 30m), pumping wells and changing of natural route for the existing Pandi ditch.
